EYELASH EXTENSIONS

Are you tired of mascara and lash curlers? Want to enjoy having long, luxurious lashes each day? Eyelash extensions are a safe and convenient alternative to mascara. The semi–permanent lashes are individually adhered to your own lashes, creating a natural and comfortable feel.

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are a safe way to extend the length and thickness of your eyelashes, not like “false eyelashes” that can be applied at home. They are applied on a hair–by–hair basis directly to your own lashes for a totally natural look and feel.

How long will eyelash extensions last?

When properly applied and cared for, your eyelash extensions can last up to two months or more (the length of the natural growth cycle of each natural eyelash hair). The extensions adhere to the individual eyelash (not the lashbed) and do not fall off themselves.  

We naturally lose 3 to 5 eyelashes per day and new ones grow in.  When your natural lash falls out, the extension falls out with it.  After your initial starter set, touch–ups (fills) are recommended approximately every four weeks to replace any lashes that might have fallen off.

What brand of lash extensions is offered?

At Westlake Dermatology, we use NovaLash® lash extensions. NovaLash® is owned and operated by a team of physicians, scientists, and cosmetic chemists who uphold the highest standards for safety and efficacy in the industry.

How do I care for my lash extensions?

Care should be taken not to rub or scratch eyes. Also, any creams, eye makeup removers, lotions, or cleansers containing glycols or carbonates can loosen the bond of the extensions. Eye cream should be used only sparingly with avoidance of the lash line area.

Water soluble mascara can be worn, however, constant use of mascara may shorten the life–span of your lashes. Waterproof mascara is not recommended as it will dissolve the bond with the lashes.

NovaLash® is the only brand of lash extensions that is steamable. This means your lashes can endure facials, steam rooms, and the high humidity of Central Texas!

What if I decide I no longer want extensions?

If you choose not to keep up with your extensions by having the monthly fills, the lashes with extensions on them will eventually all shed and you will return to having all-natural lashes in a few months.  The eyelash extensions have no effect on your lashbed follicles and will not inhibit future lash growth.
