Kelly Wala is a Registered Nurse with a Baccalaureate Degree of Science in Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University. The initial 10 years of her nursing career focused on cardiothoracic nursing where she worked in a cardiothoracic intensive care unit in Lexington, Kentucky. After 8 years of cardiac critical care experience, she became a certified cardiovascular nurse specialist and worked as a physician extender alongside one of the top cardiovascular surgeons. She was also involved with Edwards’ Life Sciences in research with porcine heart valves and with St. Jude, Medtronic and Guidant in electrophysiology research studies.
In 2004, Kelly re-focused her education and experience to develop her practice as an Aesthetic Nurse Specialist. She joined Westlake Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery to provide a full complement of non-surgical aesthetic services such as facial injectables, laser and light therapy, body contouring, and skin care. Kelly was the first in Texas to perform the Injectable Threadlift.
As an Aesthetic Nurse Specialist for the past seven years, Kelly recognizes the value of specialty training. Her devotion to ongoing education led to Kelly’s current involvement as a clinical instructor with Aesthetic Advancements, Inc., a national resource for clinical instruction on nonsurgical aesthetic procedures, such as neurotoxins, dermal fillers, lasers and skin care. AAI offers group instruction to physicians and physician extenders across the country. These courses provide Category 1 CME and CE credit to the practitioner after completion of the course.
Kelly is an Allergan Medical Facial Aesthetic ACE speaker and a National Trainer with companies including Medicis (Restylane, Perlane, and Dysport), Merz (Radiesse), StrataMed, CME Scholar, and IntraMed Educational Group. She also serves as the Laser Safety Officer for Westlake Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery.
Kelly is one of only 100 practitioners nationally to become certified in the Medical Esthetic Field, giving her the title Medical Esthetic Professional-Certified (MEP-C). The American Academy of Medical Esthetic Professional (AAMEP) promotes the highest standard of practice in medical esthetic nursing and enhances professional growth through education and certification, scientific inquiry and research.
Kelly is a member of the American Academy of Medical Esthetic Professionals, the National Association of Professional Women, the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, and the Texas Board of Nursing.
