Valencia Thomas, M.D.
Valencia Thomas, M.D., completed her Dermatology specialty training at Harvard Medical School where she served as the Chief Resident of Education in her final year. She graduated cum laude from Harvard College with a degree in Biochemical Sciences and earned her medical degree at the University of Chicago-Pritzker School of Medicine. Dr. Thomas completed an internship in Reproductive Medicine at the University of California San Diego and a research fellowship in Dermatology Clinical Trials at the Massachusetts General Hospital prior to beginning her specialty training. After her specialty training, she completed a second fellowship in Mohs and Dermatologic Surgery at the Oregon Health Science University.
Dr. Thomas has participated in multiple research projects, presentations, and book chapters dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers. For the past two years, she has served on the faculty of Yale Medical School as an Assistant Professor in the Section of Cutaneous Oncology and Dermatologic Surgery. Her clinical interests are skin cancers, nail surgery, laser surgery and teaching. Dr. Thomas joined Westlake Dermatology when she returned to her home state of Texas in May of 2008.
Dr. Thomas is a Diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology, an Associate in the American College of Mohs Surgery, and a Fellow in the American Academy of Dermatology. She is a member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, the Women's Dermatologic Society, the American Society of Dermatopathology, and the Harris County Medical Association.
