MiraDry in Austin
For millions of Americans, excessive underarm sweating is a daily struggle that can interfere with nearly every aspect of life. And even for those that do not experience excessive sweating, sweat and odor are simply a bother. MiraDry® is a non-invasive, energy-based treatment that provides a safe, effective, and permanent solution for underarm sweating without the use of toxins or surgery. In about an hour, you can eliminate your underarm sweat and odor – for good.
What is MiraDry?
A MiraDry treatment is an in-office procedure that utilizes precisely controlled energy to the region where the sweat glands reside in the axillary (underarm), just below the dermis. The sweat glands are eliminated, and because sweat glands do not regenerate, treatment results are dramatic and lasting. The MiraDry procedure uses a safe, non-invasive technology that is FDA cleared for the treatment of primary axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweating). Only about 2% of the approximate 4 million sweat glands in your body are located in the underarms, so the treatment will not affect the body’s ability to cool itself.
What is a MiraDry procedure like?
The procedure involves no incisions and is customized for each underarm area. Local anesthesia is administered to numb the treatment area prior to the procedure to maintain comfort. The procedure generally lasts about one hour. After the treatment, patients can return to normal activities, and can typically resume exercise within several days. Normal side effects include localized soreness or swelling, which typically clears within a few weeks.
What kind of results should I expect?
MiraDry is the only non-invasive, FDA cleared device to safely and permanently eliminate underarm sweat and odor glands. Patients can expect to see an immediate reduction of underarm sweating and odor, with minimal to no downtime. Results of a MiraDry procedure are dramatic and lasting because sweat glands do not regenerate once eliminated. A majority of patients are satisfied after a single treatment, but two treatments spaced three months apart may be required to maximize the results for some patients. In a clinical study, the average sweat reduction was 86%. As with any medical procedure, results will vary by person.
Patients typically experience hair growth reduction in the treatment area after a MiraDry procedure.
