How Does Avava Work?
Avava delivers precise laser energy beneath the skin’s surface, targeting structural and functional elements of the skin. This laser energy causes controlled damage deep in the skin without effecting the epidermis (surface skin layers). Treatment spurs the skin’s natural healing process, boosting skin firming proteins like collagen and elastin while simultaneously encouraging cellular turnover to rejuvenate the skin.
Who Is a Good Candidate For Avava?
Individuals who are in good overall health and who wish to enhance their overall skin health and address visible aging symptoms are great candidates for Avava. Unlike other lasers, Avava is not restricted by skin tone and can be used patients with darker skin tones at high energy. Its versatility ensures tailored, effective treatment outcomes for a diverse range of skin types from Fitzpatrick Types I–VI.
What Is a Treatment Like?
Avava treatments are fully customizable and tailored to the specific dermatologic needs of each patient. Treatments start with the application of a topical anesthetic to minimize any discomfort. Next, an ergonomic handpiece with a chilled sapphire tip is passed over the treatment area. Avava utilizes a high-resolution imaging system to deliver precise laser energy to targeted areas of the skin.
Sessions are relatively quick, lasting around 15 to 30 minutes, and are meticulously crafted for comfort and efficacy.
Is Avava Painful?
Avava treatments are minimally painful as the laser uses advanced cooling technology and precise temperature controls to ensure a positive experience. Additionally, a topical numbing cream can be applied before the treatment to minimize any discomfort.
How Soon Will I See Results?
Most patients see optimal results with 2-3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Post-treatment, patients can expect to notice an enhancement in skin texture and tone shortly following their first session, with ongoing improvements as the skin continues to revitalize.
Is Downtime Required?
Avava requires little to no recovery time. Following treatment, patients may experience mild redness, swelling, or tenderness along the treatment areas that typically resolve on their own within 24-72 hours.
