sclerotherapy veins disappear

Over 80 million U.S. adults have unwanted spider or varicose veins. Leg veins are more than just cosmetically unappealing, they can potentially lead to serious issues such as skin ulcers or cause pain or irritation when walking or standing.

Sclerotherapy is a non-surgical treatment that often removes varicose or spider veins in a single treatment. During the procedure targeted veins are injected with a sclerosing solution, causing them to close and rapidly fade away.

Here is a real time sclerotherapy treatment provided by Dr. Elizabeth Geddes-Bruce:

The video showcases how quick and effective a sclerotherapy treatment can be. As the solution is injected the vein rapidly disappears from view. Sclerotherapy only eliminates abnormal veins that are no longer used, so there are only positive effects on blood circulation.

Sclerotherapy requires minimal “downtime” as most patients are able to resume normal activity right away, though compression stockings should be worn for two weeks following the treatment. Highly physical activity, hot tubs or saunas, and long plane rides (prolonged sitting) should be avoided during this period as well.
