Summer months can be very difficult on the skin. The higher temps, humidity, and UV exposure can be very detrimental for both the health and appearance of the skin.

Here’s Dr. Mary Ramirez’s favorite morning routine for summer time:

First, wash your face with a gentle cleanser such as Elta MD Foaming facial cleanser. This is a sensitivity-free, pH balanced, oil-free enzyme cleanser that works well on sensitive skin and acne-prone skin and leaves your face feeling soft and clean.

After washing the face, it is important to apply a vitamin C serum such as SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic, which helps protect the skin against oxidative damage from free radicals generated by UV light and elements in our environment. C E Ferulic also brightens the skin’s complexion leaving a youthful glow.

Lastly, it is important to apply sunscreen every day. In the summer time when people are more active and spend more time outside, a good daily sunscreen is Elta MD UV Sport (SPF 50), a water-resistant sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB rays. Remember it is important to reapply sunscreen every 1-2 hours or after swimming or sweating.
