Do you want to enhance the appearance of your lips but are worried about making them appear overly inflated? While there are many great lip enhancement techniques for adding volume, including lip injections using fillers like Restylane or Juvederm Ultra XC or even a permanent lip implant, some of our patients simply wish to make their lips appear more prominent without actually enlarging them.

There is a safe and effective way to achieve this goal using Botox. Yes, the proven wrinkle fighter can also be used to enhance the lips through a procedure known as a “Botox Lip Flip”.

What is a Botox Lip Flip?

A Botox Lip Flip is a simple non-invasive procedure that involves the injection of Botox neuromodulator into the muscle that surrounds the mouth (called the orbicularis oris). In the same way that Botox works to relax underlying muscles that cause wrinkles, the injected Botox prevents the orbicularis oris from holding the lips in place. This results in the outward “flip” of the upper lip, creating the appearance of fuller and plumper lips.

What Results Can You Expect from a Botox Lip Flip?

A Botox Lip Flip creates the appearance of fuller, plumper, and more shapely lips. In reality, however, the lips do not actually increase in size. As the Botox relaxes the underlying muscle, the lips gently roll out creating a soft pout. There is no actual volume added as a Botox Lip Flip creates a visual illusion of enlargement.

It’s important for patients to understand that a Botox Lip Flip provides a more subtle result compared to the more dramatic effect achieved through fillers or lip implants.

How Soon Will I See Results?

The initial effect of the injectable lip flip is nearly instant, though most patients will realize the final end result of the procedure within 2-3 days of treatment.

How long do results last?

Results provided by the lip flip are temporary. For most patients the results will last between six to eight weeks. Patients can maintain their look by undergoing regular maintenance treatments.

How is the procedure performed?

A Botox Lip Flip is a fast, simple, and minimally invasive procedure. After undergoing a consultation to determine the patient’s candidacy, Botox is administered via four small injections above the top lip.

How Long Does the procedure take?

The procedure is very quick and simple, most patients will be fully done in less than 20 minutes.

Is a Lip Flip Painful?

The injection is done using an ultra-fine needle to minimize pain. Discomfort is minimal and brief, and once complete, there is usually no discomfort.

Sounds great for people who just want a small effect. I discussed this option with my injector. However I’m set to get filler this week as I’m looking for a more full look.

I can attest to effectiveness, I tried the botox lipflip a few weeks ago and I’m loving the results! I’ve never done filler before so I can’t really compare, only say that the treatment worked for me.

        Hi Donna,

The best way to know if its a viable solution is to come in for a consultation. A skilled injector can assess the current characteristics of your skin to see if a Botox lip flip would be a good option for you.

Cost also depends on the amount of Botox needed, and can range between $80 and $500. During your consultation, the provider will be able to determine a more firm priced based on need.

Please give us a call at (512) 328-3376 to setup an appointment!

        Thanks,
