Fabiana Lopes, MD
Dr. Fabiana Lopes specializes in medical, pediatric, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. She completed her dermatology residency at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin, where she served as Chief Resident. Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, Dr. Lopes earned her medical degree, completed dermatology residency training, and pursued fellowship training in dermatologic surgery at the University of São Paulo, one of the most prestigious medical institutions in Latin America, before continuing her medical career in the United States. Prior to repeating residency training in the U.S., she practiced dermatology in Brazil with extensive experience in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology.
Dr. Lopes provides comprehensive dermatologic care for patients of all ages, including babies, children, teenagers, adults, and elderly patients. Her clinical interests include pediatric dermatology, inflammatory skin diseases, skin of color, dermatologic surgery, and cosmetic dermatology, with a particular focus on laser procedures and injectables. She is passionate about helping patients achieve healthy skin while maintaining natural and balanced aesthetic results.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Lopes has an extensive academic and research background, with publications in peer-reviewed journals including JAMA Dermatology, Pediatric Dermatology, and JAAD Case Reports. Her academic work has focused on pediatric dermatology, atopic dermatitis, vitiligo, skin cancer in skin of color, and rare dermatologic disorders. She has presented research nationally and internationally through organizations such as the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) and Texas Dermatological Society (TDS).
Dr. Lopes has received several academic distinctions, including the Society for Pediatric Dermatology Underrepresented in Medicine Mentorship Award and the VisTA Scholars Award at Boston Children’s Hospital. She remains actively involved in teaching, mentorship, and research and is a member of organizations including the American Medical Association, Society for Pediatric Dermatology, Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance (PeDRA), and Texas Dermatological Society.
Dr. Lopes is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. She is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based, and personalized dermatologic care and values building long-lasting relationships with her patients and their families.
