Benefits of Restylane

Restylane is a cosmetic dermal filler made of clear hyaluronic acid gel, a natural substance that already exists in the human body. The hyaluronic acid creates volume in the face, giving it a healthy, youthful appearance. Restylane filler is able to produce immediate and dramatic results right after injection. The skin looks plumper and more youthful, the visual appearance of lines and wrinkles is within minutes of Restylane being administered

Restylane has a granular and more cohesive texture, making it a great filler to address deep folds and sunken facial areas (the effect of significant volume loss). Restylane is also highly moldable, when injected into the skin the filler can be manipulated by the injector to create desired shapes and contours.

Different Types of Restylane

There are multiple products within the Restylane family that are designed for different areas of the face. Restylane products include:

  • Restylane: Used to add fullness to the skin and correct severe facial wrinkles or folds
  • Restylane Lift: An ideal filler to address the mid-face (cheek area) as well as the nasolabial folds
  • Restylane Silk: Formulated to add fullness and definition to the lips
  • Restylane Refyne and Defyne: Specifically formulated for use in deeper layers of the dermis
  • Restylane Kysse – FDA approved to enhance lip volume

How Does Restylane Work?

Restylane filler uses Hyaluronic Acid (HA) to add targeted volume to the face, plumping the skin to correct lines, wrinkles, and folds. Hyaluronic Acid is a well-known humectant which means it has the ability to attract and retain moisture. In fact, HA can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water. When Restylane is injected directly into areas where the body’s collagen has been weakened, depressions can be raised to the level of surrounding skin. This minimizes the appearance of lines, wrinkles and even most types of scars. Restylane even has a positive benefit for skin texture as treatment leaves the skin softer with a more even tone.

How Long Does Restylane Last?

Restylane results typically last between 9 to 12 months before the filler is metabolized by the body (returning the skin to its pre-treated state). Patients who wish to keep results over a longer term can elect to undergo periodic maintenance treatment sessions.

Your Visit at Westlake Dermatology San Antonio

Our team is dedicated to safely providing patients with the best results possible. All Restylane treatments in our San Antonio office are performed by a board certified dermatologist with advanced training on injectable treatments including Botox and dermal fillers.

Restylane treatment sessions start with an in-office consultation, allowing our expert injectors to assess your individual needs and understand your desired end result. A unique treatment plan will then be developed and presented to the patient. During your treatment, your physician will administer Restylane via a smooth-flowing injection through an ultra-fine needle. Some Restylane formulations contain lidocaine to number the skin as the injection occurs, minimizing any patient discomfort. Patients can return to their normal daily activities immediately following treatment
